Are RGP lenses supposed to blur when you blink?!

Question: I just got RGP lenses and I was wondering if things are supposed to go slightly out of focus every time I blink. Does this go away as I get adjusted to the lenses?

It may go away after a few days, once your cornea has adapted to the lens.

But it may not, it depends on how much the lenses are moving when you blink. Your upper lid may be pulling it up so that you are catching just the edge of the lens for a second when you blink.

Sometimes the lenses have to be sent back to have the edges " rolled" if that is the case.

With RGP's it takes a good week to 10 days most often to see if a problem is going to get better, or if the lens needs some tweeking.

You shouldn't be specifically feeling the edges of the lenses. It is normal to feel the lens as a whole for a few days until your cornea desensitizes but the edges shouldn't be noticable.

That is another sign of why they are blurring when you blink.

The edges probably have to be smoothed out, thinned out also maybe, and polished more.

When you have it between your index finger and your thumb, gently rub it...if you can feel the edges are not completely smooth and rounded...that is the problem.

Which is also causing it to lift too high when you blink. It should move on a vertical plane , just 1 - 2 millimeters when you blink and quickly return to the right place.

I would guess you better get back to him soon about it then. When he rechecks how they are lifting ., causing the blur...he will probably know it is the edge problem...and the fact that you feel them reinforces that also.

They will have to be sent back to the lab, so that will take a few days.

Good luck

You realize though of course I am just going by your symptoms, without having actually seen them on your eyes. The blur problem could also be caused by the optical zone being too small if you have large pupils, that you just added....lol

If that is the case, it means new lenses. But either way, it seems a recheck of the fit should be done sooner rather than later.

I believe you have already had them a few days. You asked about them last week I think.

Why would anyone ask questions about their eyes on here.Go see your dr your eyes are not to be fooled with

yup thats just n initial trauma...
ull be alrit...
