Another question floaters?!

Question: I also noticed these little dots floating around on things that are light colored, the optometrist told me as well that floaters are not so uncommon, many people have them. I have had floaters since I was 21, now 28...
The doctor told me that they do not cause blindness or is anything to worry about, is he correct?
Anyone else have floaters?
I am Nearsighted and Farsighted with Astgmatism/ and trifocals at the age of 28!
This worries me, I don't want to go blind.

Yep...he's right...many many people have floaters, they won't make you go blind....and there isn't anything to do about them either.

I saw your Rx in your other question...that sure is a rare one for someone your age.

floaters really aren't a big worry. if you have a sudden increase in the number and size of floaters, or are seeing flashes of light, then something may be wrong and you'd want to go back to the optometrist.

go to www.webmd.com or mayoclinic.com and research some eye diseases like glaucoma and macular degeneration. you might feel better to be more informed about your eyes.

No, they are like little dust pieces in you eye. They are COMPLETELY harmless. To flush them out... pull your top eyelid over your bottom and look around everywhere for like 10 seconds and that should take care of it!

Provided that the optometrist has performed at least one careful examination with your pupils dilated, I'd say trust him about the floaters..

I am puzzled however by a 28 year-old who requires trifocals. You need to have this explained to you. Ask for an understandable explanation!! There are a very few conditions that would require someone of your age to need trifocals. Most are due to functional problems of your two eyes working together, but some can indicate conditions that are much more serious and would require neurological evaluation.

Get an explanation. He owes you that, and you should not be required to pay for it.
