I had an eye examine at regular Optometrist/optician. Can I get eye glasses from!

Question: I found a frame that my regular eye doctor doesn't have that I really like. Can I just get a prescription from him and get the new glasses at the place I found? I usually only get my glasses from my regular eye doctor.

Yes, you can. Eye doctors are now required to give you a copy of your prescription, so that you can get your glasses or contacts elsewhere. I always order my contacts online, due to the fact that I can get them much cheaper that way. I think it's great that we can do things like that now, so that if you find a better price somewhere else, or in your case, a certain pair of frames, you can go get them and aren't obligated to only purchase from your eye doctor and his/her selection of frames.

I understand what you mean about not hurting your eye doctor's feelings. But it's not your fault he doesn't carry the particular frames you want, and not only that, but if you can save money somewhere else AND get what you want, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that! You're the one who will be wearing the glasses, so get what makes you happiest...

It wont hurt his feels, I'm sure you won't be the first person to ask for a prescription from him. You'll also need it if you want to order contacts online.

yes its a free country

When did u last get your eyes tested? If it wasnt a long time ago have a rumage round for any paperwork he may have gave you... where i work we give everyone a copy of their prescription anyway so they dont have to ask... im pretty sure thats what every opticians are meant to do.

If not ask him, he wont be offended... just happy that you keep coming to him to get your eyes tested.

Of course you can. You are not obligated to get them there. Just don't go there to have them adjusted or fixed because it is more convenient to you.
