Question: I have patanol for use when I have allergies and itch but my eyes always seem to be slightly red(in the corner?) Should I just use artificial tears?

The everyday use of redness reducing drops is discouraged by every doc I know. These medications are safe for occasional use but can have side effects if used improperly or for long periods of time. Your eyes are getting red for some reason. The use of artificial tears is a great idea to help rule out a dry eye problem. The key is to use them periodically thru the day ( every 1-2 hrs) to prevent the redness. Once the redness shows, the drops will not get rid of the inflammation. You have to be pro-active. Sometimes the preservative in the drops can irritate the eyes so they make preservative fee drops which are the best. Make an appointment to see your eye doctor, you will get the safest, and quickest relief of your symptoms.

Visine is wonderful.

My eyes are red a lot. What I do everyday is shower, then when I get out, I put a couple of drops of Clear Eyes in them, that way they start out white. Just the regular eye drops for redness, not allergy or anything else. I don't wait until they get red. It seems to help out.

Of course, with any medicaiton, you want to consult your doctor so make sure it's okay with him for you to do this.

I guess I should say the only reason I use Clear Eyes is because it's cheaper than Visine.
