How do you stop your eyes from burning when you've been staring at a screen !

Question: Like besides just stop looking at it or rest or eyes or something like that.
Like when you can't just "take a break" and have to keep looking at the screen. My friend has to do a lot of homework on his computer so I was just wondering if there's anyway to stop his eyes from burning..

Prevention is the best solution. Your friends eyes are burning probably because of dryness. Our blink rate decreases when we concentrate on a computer screen or book. Consciously looking away from the screen every 10 mins or so and blinking a few times ( just for a few seconds) will help. Also, use an artificial tear (not visine or other redness reliever) every couple hours while on the computer. The key is you have to do these things before the eyes get irritated. Be pro-active and prevent the problem. Once the eyes are inflamed, you have to give them time to heal and quiet down. Your eye doctor can help you in other ways as well.

practice blinking more while you are working. and eye drops would definatly help too.

take a cat nap. or close your eyes for 10 minutes.

there's really no way if you don't take a break.......... can he do it on paper and then transfer it quickly onto the computer later? once your eyes aer burning, thye are being literally damaged

what about wearing some shades/sunglasses while looking at the screen? there is actually a shade cover to put infront of the screen to help reduce the irritation from the glare. I think you can find it at any walmart or office supply store.

make sure theres plenty of light in the room to decrease the computer screen brightness. talking about brightness, reduce the brightness on the screen so it wont disturb so much, and you could put something fresh in the eyes to relax them even more.OK

Put a screen filter on the computer.

Make sure your eyes aren't getting dry. Dry eyes will make your eyes itch, burn & even water. When staring at a computer screen, your blink rate drops by about half, so make sure to use a moisture drop (Optive, Systane & Genteal are all good brands) before beginning computer work, and as needed during use.

Artificial tears can help. And you can almost always spare a vision break even if you're pressed for time. It only takes a few seconds to gain some benefit.

Hydrating yourself from the inside (drink plenty of water) never hurts.

In fact, if you hydrate well enough, the side effect becomes a built-in way to be sure you pry your eyes away from the computer regularly. (LOL--just tryin' for a "best answer" here.)
