Why can I never get my lefts and rights.... right????!?!?!

Question: I'm 17 so it's not like I'm a little kid trying to learn. I'm learning how to drive and when ever someone tells me to turn right I turn left or when they say right I turn left. At first it was funny but now its just irritating and frustrating. It's not like I do it on accident, in my mind I really think I'm going the right way untill someone starts yelling or laughing. it's not only when I drive either. sometimes I see things backwards like setting the oven to 450 I'll set it to 405 that only happens once in a while though sometimes when I look at the keyboard to type I'll get "b" and "p" mixed up but not very often it's mostly just my rights and lefts. what could be wrong? and how do I fix it?

I know how you feel I do alot of that too and I am 32. I found out I was dyslexic and have dysgraphia I transpose numbers or read them correctly but I will write them in the wrong order. It is not something we do on purpose and the only thing to fix it is learn how to create tricks to remind yourself which way is which and which letter is which such as putting labels on the dash of the car on each side of the steering wheel with left and right and an arrow on it pointing the correct way. I had to do when I first started driving. As for b and p and d and q I remember that b and d make a bed (bd) It weird I know but it worked for me.

O............................K.............

Just think of the direction as whichever hand you use to write. If you're left handed, think of that hand when someone tells you to go left. If you're right handed, think of that hand when someone tells you to go right.

What you have is called dyslexia. Several people have it. You got to practice, but even so, you'll still have it. Sorry.

write R on ur right hand and L on ur left hand

i taught my son to hold up his hands. Whichever index and thumb finger makes an L shape, that is his left hand. So the other must be his right hand. It seems to work.

I am the same as this to a certain extent. I get letters and numbers mixed up all the time when someone calls them out to me. But overall i know i am an intelligent person, completed 5 years in college now physio

With regards to driving when you become more confident this well settle down so calm yourself.

You may benefit speaking to someone about this im not sure who you go to e.g. doctor. My three cousins were diagnosed with dyslexia,it was noted cos they get numbers etc all mixed up. One of them is now a doctor, one a stock broker and the other an archetictic in training!! ??Did they see speech and language/psychologist

Sounds like dyslexia. Maybe see if you set up an appointment w/ a doctor to see what you can do about it.
