Dust in eye?!

Question: My boyfriend got dust/dirt in his eye and it's been bothering him for an hour now. It looks like he has a black eye. I've never seen him whine before. What's some relief for this? He tried to wash it out.

If a saline flush does not make the eye feel better, then he may have something embedded on his cornea (front of the eye). He needs to see an eye doctor to get that removed. Don't waste your time going to an ER because they may not be proficient with using a slit lamp to examine the eye thoroughly. They may end up referring you to an eye doctor anyways.

It's possible that the debris is out of his eye from the saline flush but it is still feeling irritated because the debris left a scratch or inflammation in his eye. If it doesn't get better by tomorrow, then go see an eye doctor.

Tell him too wash his eye out with cold water and then use eye drops...if that doesnt help then he probably scratched his eye and needs to go too the eye dr

This will sound crazy ... milk

Try flushing it with saline soultion, like what you use with contacts!

Don't rinse it out with water since it has chlorine in it. Use eye wash and if it hasn't helped it probably wasn't dust at all. He may have scratched his eyeball and he will need to see a doctor. I'm not sure what you mean by looking like a black eye. A black eye is black and blue all around the eye but the eyeball may only be a little bloodshot. He really should go to the ER and see if he needs some medication. You don't want it to damage his eye or his eyesight.
