Should i take my contacts out hours before bed?!

Question: someone idiot told me that it is bad to leave your contacts in all day and then take them out right before you go to bed because your eyes need to breathe. do i need to take them out while my eyes are open for a few hours a day?or can i take them out right before bed

Whoever told you that wasn't an idiot.

I tell all my patients to take them out an hour before going to bed whenever possible.

Healthy corneas need oxygen...it is reduced when you are wearing contacts.

When your eyes are closed to sleep, there is no oxygen either.

Taking them off an hour before bed is just a good way to help reduce the problems that come from over wearing contacts.

right before bed is fine. your eyes do need oxygen, but most contacts allow at least some oxygen flow to your eyes now. some contacts are approved for overnight wear, like acuvue oasys, focus night and day, etc. ask your eye doctor if you can wear yours at night.

your eyes DO need to breath or else you can get a cornea infection where the veins will grow over your eye causing redness and slight pain. if you go to bed at 4 in the morning or even 2 in the morning then yes take them out at about 11. it depends on how long you are wearing your contacts. you should wear them about 16 hours in the day. maybe 17 but not to much more. it really doesn't matter if you go to bed within that 16 or 17 hours when you take out your contacts.

If you need to. If you are at home, no plans coming up, yes take them off!

i just take them out before bed.i think it's what your comfortable with.

Anytime so as long as u got take them out.
