LASIK is a LONG TERM effect. You are no more likely to change in distance prescription after LASIK than before. LASIK takes you from point A to point B and drops you there and says "now, have a nice life". If your future before LASIK would have been that you were destined to remain stable in prescription then you will remain stable in prescription after LASIK. If, though, the old crystal ball would have shown that 5 years down the road you were destined to change then you will change 5 years down the road. This is why we do not recommend LASIK on patients that are not stable. If you are not stable before LASIK then chances are you will not be stable after LASIK. For the great majority of LASIK patients the results last years upon years. For example, I had my LASIK done in 1995. My distance prescription is EXACTLY the same today as it was immediately after surgery. Of course, I have lost focusing ability associated with aging but this would have happened whether or not I had LASIK in the first place. So I just wear reading glasses when needed.
