Has anyone discovered a self-cure for eye floaters?!

Question: Or maybe a way to reduce the impact of them on your vision? I have excellent 20/15 vision yet my left eye is plagued by a couple of eye floaters that mostly appear when looking at a white computer screen. It doesn't effect vision at all, but it can get annoying. Also, has anyone had it turn into something more serious?

I can give a long answer but here is the shourt verson. I had floaters. I saw a physician in Birmingham Alabama at Retina Specialists. As you grow older in life the vitreous (gel) in the sack of the eye becomes thicker. As it thickens it pulls the back wall of the macula downward resulting in posterior vitreous detachment (NOT to be confused with a detached retina). Over time the "sack" stabilizes and floaters become less of a problem. However, for some people such as myself the floaters got worse and never stabilized. Dr. Morros said I went from 20 20 vision to legally blind in minutes until I rubbed my eyes and vision improved. I had a vitrectomy (they sucked out the thick jelly and replaced it with saline) done in 8-07 and have no problems since. No floaters - no vision problems. And BCBS insurance paid for surgery as it is a medical condition.

Floaters a debris in the aqua of the eye. If you look left and right, up and down rapidly for 20s they break up and become less of an issue.

They are more common in those with short-sightedness and get worse with age. There is a slight correlation with detached retina but dont cause anything of themselves.

They only talk about treatment for very severe cases because otherwise, there is nothing that can be done for floaters.

I find floaters to be more than "annoying". I can no longer read a book or magazine in comfort because they get in the way of the letters. It distorts my vision. I complained about this to my eye doctor and he says there is nothing to be done about it. I swear they will become so dense as to prevent my vision altogether!
