How long do you have to leave your contacts in before they stick to your eye?!

Question: So that when you take them out you rip off your cornea. I know a smart person would take them out each night but I was pre-occupied with booze and partying. So 4 days straight I left em in and was kind of scared to take my contacts out but then I just said f*ck it and did it anyway. To my relief I was alright but it made me wonder. How long before that actually happens?

(Wow - what a range of answers....)

I wear the 30 day extended wear contact - but have worn other kinds for a while and slept in them without problems. Just make sure you use the re-wetting drops and they should be fine when you take them out.

I don't know if taking out a contact will actually rip the cornea...unless that's where you're grabbing them from to remove them.

BTW - Enjoy your youth - just be responsible with how you're enjoying yourself. (Don't drink and drive!) :-)

if you are that irresponsible you better wear glasses because your eye sight is very precious and lay off the booze to.

i don't think that'll actually happen.
your eye has fluids and stuff that always keeps them moist, so contacts would be easy to take out and you won't rip out your cornea or any other part of your eye for that matter.

in fact i don't even think that contacts even reach the cornea. isn't it near the edge of your eye? your contacts only go over your pupils. i'm not sure though.

besides, you'd probably get some type of eye infection long before it becomes even close for your contact to rip any part of your eye out, which won't even happen.

I would think u'd have 2 leave them in 4 about six months before it would rip out ur cornea . Yeah, but never do that, 4 ur optometrist would get onto u and it would ruin ur eyes pretty bad,DUH!

There is no set time as to how long it may take for them to really stick...it could happen in a single night...it depends on the type of lens and how dry your eyes become.

Trying to get a lens off that it really stuck can certainly cause some damage to the cornea, temporary in most cases, but it could get very sore for several days.

If they do ever get stuck that bad, just be sure to put in lots and lots of drops to make the lens soften up first before you try pulling them off.
