Should I get eye surgery? Even though I have 20/20 vision?!

Question: My left eye when I look down and to the right, does not go the same as my right eye. Which results in double vision. The surgery consists of tightening the left eye muscle. But they are also going to do something with the right eye which is perfectly normal.

I dont know what to do.
I don't what them to mess up both of my eyes!
Oh and i have 20/20 vision.
and you cant tell my eye is messed up unless i move my eyes down and to the right.

???

First of all if it doesn't bother you then you do not have to have the surgery. It is possible that it could get worse in the future though. If you do decide to get the surgery then I would make sure that they explain what they would be doing with your right eye that way you can accept or refuse the procedure. You should always know what they are going to do. and if they use medical language ask them to explain in terms that are more understandable. (doctors tend to do this). If you are not comfortable then you can have them just do the left eye or none at all. Once they explain the procedure to you completely and understandably, then it is up to you whether you want it done or not. Good Luck!

Eye surgery will make your eyes better than perfect vision. My dad's eyes were so bad he couldn't see something if it was right in front of him, and 10 years after surgery he still sees 20/15 (better than perfect, what perfect visioned people see from 15 feet away, he sees from 20 feet away)

-One of the bad side affects with eye vision is over 5-10 yrs you will end up needing reading glasses. I would not recommned it unless your problem is so bad that you would rather not be able to see up close.

You need to determine if the benefits out way the risks. Check with the doctor and see if this is absolutely necessary. Is it something that could become worse later on and by having the surgery it will prevent that? Perhaps a second opinion would also help.

You could gain stereo vision and better depth parception with the surgery. As with any sergery you have to weigh the risk. It is a personal choice. Double vision would drive me nuts personally.

Of course you do not want a medical appointment here in YA. Talk to your ophthalmologist he will explain you.
You have squint. and this is the cause of the surgery.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

You have clear, comfortable vision. It would be nice to have clear, comfortable vision with binocular fusion. You are lucky if you have 20/20 vision in each eye.

In my view if it's not bothering you too much I would leave it alone. It is possible that surgery could cause more problems than you already have. I suggest you get a couple more opinions and think very carefully about it.
