After cataract surgery, can the new lens slip out of place or is it stitched int!

Question: If it can slip out of place, are you able to feel it floating around in there? Why else would an eye blur months after cataract surgery?

A lens partially or totally dislocating *is* possible, but is extremely rare.

The most common reason for vision fading a few months (up to two years) after the operation is capsule opacification, which needs only a moment wth a YAG laser to permanently correct.
(no anaesthetic or physical contact with the eye required.)

There are other rarer possibilities, such as a reactive macular oedema, which would still be more comman than a dislocated lens.

The answer to all of these is a differentiating examination.

A new lens is stitched in at 3-4 places, not all the way around. You may experience foggy vision and it may feel like it is moving around a little but ther is no complete slipping unless it has not been stitiched in properly, good luck.

Eye blur is usual at initial days 2 -3
If it persist...and if you are diabetic ...
take insulin...consult your doctor

I have had this done on both eyes, and it was all explained to me by the surgeon.

A small slit is made in the eyeball by the doctor. After the clouded natural lens has been removed, the replacement lens is then compressed and inserted through the small slit. Once the lens is in position, it opens up, and spring-like arms hold it in place.

See the attached link. It shows a photo of an implant lens, and you will clearly see how this works.

Once the lens is in place, the slit is closed. Many times it does not even require stitches. The lens will never be able to fall out of the eye. And you cannot feel the lens after it has been inserted. After healing, your eye feels no different than it did before surgery.

As the other answerer said, it is sometimes necessary to return to the surgeon several months later to clear up any additional clouding that occurs on the membrane holding the lens in place.
