RGP contacts?!

Question: i got RGP contacts about 6 months ago, and i realized that my eyesight is getting worse and worse. I soak my contacts in solution every night, and rinse it in the morning.

Why is my eyesight getting worse so fast?
Is it because my contacts are getting dirty?
Protein build up?

Most people get first contacts (RGP or otherwise) in their teens while their RX is changing quite quickly.
That change which made the contacts necessary (principally down to growth) doesn't stop just because the Rx has been given. The contacts are going out-of date for Rx in most cases from the day they're given.

It's not quite as simple as that because:
compared to soft lenses, RGP lenses have some tendency to slow these changes in some people.
And because badly fitted or overworn RGP contact lenses can cause corneal oedema which *does* produce temporary shifts in Rx
(Normally apparent because the vision in equivalent specs is worse that with the RGP contacts.)

If the contacts are just dirty, vision with equivalent specs should be *better* than with the contacts, helping differentiate the origin of the missing sharpness.

This is just one of the reasons why up-to-date back up spectacles are a good idea.

eyesight getting worse and worse that is too in 6 months is an indication to take the matter seriously. there can be couple of factor which may cause it. so you need to take appt of optometrist/CL consultant and ask for....
keratoconus: a degenerative disease of cornea due to which shape of cornea gradually detoriates in conical shape and causes reduction in vision even with best fitted RGPs

dirty contacts gives you irritation and discomfort before reducing the vision. it may be a very rare factor in your case.

stop using contacts for 3 days and after that get your specs power rechecked. compare with previous Rx. it may be error of previous examiner...we cant spare any possibility. sometime good clinicians also do mistakes.

do it and get back..... your beautiful eyes needs your care...
