Wow, this would depend on what kind of an eye exam you are getting.

I know an optometrist at Wal-Mart who does nothing but refractions. His prices are on the low end and not worth what he charges.

The high end would be a comprehensive exam from an ophthalmologist who does the most complete eye exam.

If you have no eye disease and do not have any major health issues that may affect your eyes, you may want to go middle-of-the-road by going to a private practice optometrist who probably charges a bit more than the Wal-Mart refractionist but usually does more than a 10-minute exam.

I know these are generalizations and someone will probably disagree, but I've seen it so often. It seems that the average private practice optometrist has more invested in his/her profession than the average person doing "exams" at a chain store.

each clinic differs in the appointment and costs for patients, so call up and collect the information from eye clinic
