In need of advice on contact lenses!!?!

Question: In need of advice on contact lenses!!!?
I just recently got contacts and like them pretty well!. What i'm hearing from the Optomitrist is that the "color lenses" for astigmatism don't breathe as well as the clear!. I want other opinions!. The doctors mostly go on what they read from the manufacturer and i want to know what's up from the actual wearers!!! Also, are you supposed to be able to see so much of the lens around past the pupil of your eye or do you think i should contact "pearl" vision and ask them to do a check!? Like i said this is my first week wearing contacts!.
So!.!.!.!. if you have astigmatism or know someone who does and wears color contacts!.!.!. please let me know what is the best brand and how you like them!. Thanks to all answers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you don't think the fitment of your contacts is correct, definitely go back and have them rechecked!. But you are always going to be able to see some of the contact outside of your iris (the colored part); they are all designed to fit in that manner!. The contact will always cover your entire pupil and iris, and then extend out over the iris a bit into the white area of your eye!. Now if the contacts are slipping around too much, you definitely should go back for a recheck on your sizing!. It can be tricky to fit people with astigmatism for contacts!.

It could also be that you are still trying to adjust to wearing the contacts; it can take up to 2 weeks for some people's eyes to fully adjust to wearing them!.

There are a couple brands of colored contacts for astigmatism!. Freshlook Colorblends has the toric lenses for astigmatism, and Durasoft Colors has the Optifit 2 and Optifit 3 for color lenses!. I have known people that have worn colored lenses for astigmatism and have no problems what so ever!. But whether or not they are suitable for you is something that only your eye doctor can really tell you, since he knows the health of your eyes best!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have worn both clear and colored contacts!. I have noticed that the color contacts are a bit larger than the clear!. Not too sure why!. So, I think your contact fit is fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Clear contact lenses are available in more materials than colored or tinted contact lenses!. Many of the new clear lens materials breath much better than the materials used for colored contact lenses!. There are even fewer choices for colored contact lenses that correct astigmatism, so it is probably true that the colored astigmatic lens does not breath as well as a clear contact lens!. HOWEVER, there would be no difference in "breathability" between the clear and colored lenses if both were made from the same material!. There actually is a number that describes how well a certain material transmits oxygen, and that is what the doctor uses to compare different lenses!. Since you are new to contact lenses and have no history of contact lens problems, you would probably tolerate the colored contact lenses well and the reduced oxygen transmitting ability of the lenses should not be an issue!.

I think you meant to ask if the lenses should be visible so far past the IRIS not the PUPIL!. The PUPIL is the black hole in the middle of the colored part!. The colored part is the IRIS!. Soft lenses are generally supposed to completely cover the iris and extend just a little bit onto the white part of the eye!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The colored contact lenses are fine!. The doctor was just giving u options!. It's like that for any colored lenses!. Just don't sleep with them!. When she/he said these lenses don't breathe as well, is because oxygen doesnt pass through these lenses, so u need to remove them at a certain period, preferably before going to bed or so!. But it should be fine, if it wasnt i don't think the manufacturers would make colored contacts for astigmatism and i surely don't think it would have been approved either!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
