Prescription Question (-12.0)?!
Question: Prescription Question (-12!.0)!?
My prescription is a -12!.0 (very bad near sighted I know)!. I was just wondering what the equivalent would be in like 20/!? form!. Perfect vision is 20/20, is there a way to tell what mine would be by just knowing the -12!.0Www@Answer-Health@Com

you need -12!.00 sph in order to view clearly all the images shown on the chart, even the smaller ones, in the doctor's office from a 5m distance (standard distance)!. i don't think it really helps you to know that, honestly!.!.!. it's severe myopia that you have, you need to wear glasses or contact lenses, or maybe get laser surgery!. i will explain to you some things about this type of test: 20/20 = 5/5; the first 5 in the fraction is the distance you are being examined from (you sit 5 meters away from the chart), and the second five (for normal vision) is the number written next to the smallest text in the chart!.
if you take a closer look to the chart in the doctor's office, you will see that each row of images (larger and smaller) has a number written next to it (5, 10 etc)!. so if you see without glasses the row with the number 10 written next to it, your visual acuity would be 5/10 or 1/2!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

To answer you simply, no!.
You probably have 20/20 with your glasses on!.!.!.but there is no way to know what that value would be when you don't have your glasses or contacts on!. That would be in the Dr's file!.
That is a measurement that really has nothing to do with the prescription needed!.
20/20 isn't perfect vision by the way!. It is just good normal vision!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
