Can one wear contacts in water?!

Question: Can one wear contacts in water!?
I have been wearing contacts for just under a year now, and lately I've been wondering if I could wear them in the shower as I have to take off my glasses in the shower so I can't see very well!. Also if contacts are safe in the shower are they safe in pools or does the chlorine limit this!? Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
No, no, no!

If you wear contact lenses while showering or swimming, you need to dispose of them and replace them with a new, uncontaminated pair!. If not, you're putting yourself at high risk for an infection!.

As much as we don't like to think about it, there are microorganisms living in our water supply!. Although they may be safe for our stomachs, they are definitely not okay for our eyes!. Blindness and corneal melting can result from infections from Acanthamoeba and Pseudomonas species, which become trapped underneath the lens or work their way into the structure of the lenses!. (Do a Google search for "Acanthamoeba keratitis" or "Pseudomonas keratitis" and look at the accompanying photographs!. They'll be enough to scare you!) Anyway, these "bugs" are the same reason that you cannot rinse, clean, or store your contact lenses in tap water; you must use contact lens solution!.

Please don't listen to the amateurs above who said that wearing contact lenses in water is risk-free!. They're dead wrong!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, just don't open your eyes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Shower would probably be ok so long as you don't get water IN your eyes!.

If you open your eyes underwater, as is the case in a pool, you will most likely lose your contacts!.

Keep your eyes closed in the pool, and you should be ok!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i dont think soo
but i so would now try it u would prob loose ur contacts!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Not a good idea!. If you're in the shower and water hits your eye the contact will slip!. You will over compensate and try to stop it and end up popping it out and lose it in the tub!. In the pool, you have chlorine that will get into and damage your lenses!. Not to mention, if you do open your eyes you stand the chance of it floating away!. Or rub your eyes and drop the lens into the water!. Contacts are a pain, you do have to wear your glasses at the pool!. I ended up just getting lasik!. It has been five years now and I'm very happy!. And now I get to see other people in their bathing suits!. This is often not a good thing!. :-)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have been wearing contacts for 18 years now!. I am so blind without them so mine are in the minute I get out of bed and don't come out until just before going to bed!.
So, yes, I take showers with mine in and I swim with mine in!. It's annoying to me to not be able to see!.

Just be careful swimming in them!. I was splashed once and it washed my contact out of my eye!. Needless to say, I obviously never found it!.

Other than that though, besides some burning if soap or chlorine gets in your eye, I've never had a problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, you can wear them in water!. You can wear them in a pool while you are above water!. You just need to be careful not to get the water in your eyes!. If you're smart enough to put them in, you're smart enough to not get water in your eyes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, so as long u close ur eye during shower!. There shdn't be any problem!. As for in pools, it is not recommended unless u r using dailies lenses!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
