Eye Surgery for FAR-Sightedness?!

Question: Eye Surgery for FAR-Sightedness!?
I know that there are a variety of surgeries for nearsightedness, but are similar surgeries available for far-sightedness!? I'm 53, and like many people my age, it's becoming a bigger problem for me all the time!. Can anybody fill me in!?

Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your distance vision is still good, but your close vision is fasding, that's not farsightedness but presbyopia!.(old-
sightedness)
Lasik and related therapies won't help with that, unless you have one eye made appropriately short-sighted for closework!. It is occasionally done, but since it unbalances the eye you really have to be sure it's a good idea for you!.
Trying first wirth a contact lens would normally be recommended!.

The other surgical approch to presybyopia is to elect to have cataract surgery before you have cataract, (clear lens replacement) when there will be the oprion of having bifocal implants, to give coverage of distance and near vision!.
While more people like this technique than having single vsion implants and using reading glasses, the fact that some people don't like the result needs to be carefully weighed!. (some notice a loss of very best vsion or night-time haloes, for examples!.)

If you are geninely far-sighted, at 53 you will be having trouble with distance and near vision, and Lasik etc!. there would have a good chance of restoring good distance vision, but it would still leave you with reading difficulty, which is going to gradually increase for about the next ten years!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, lasik surgery can correct far sightedness too, up to a certain degree!. Think of it this way: If you are far sighted, your cornea (surface of the eye) is actually shaped like a valley!. Lasik flattens this out by reshaping the outer parts!. If you have a BIG valley but not a lot of tissue to work w/, than they'll tell you you're not a candidate!. Go to a lasik place to find out, some do free appointments!. If you're not one, more than likely they'll have suggestions of places you can go to!
