Where I work, it depends on several things:

Firstly, it depends on whether we have your contact lenses in stock!. Most places will have a fairly large supply of contacts on hand!. We carry tons of disposable contact lens trials!. These are for fitting purposes and you would wear a pair for a week or so, then you'd have a follow-up appointment for the doctor to check how the lenses are fitting and also to see how you are seeing with them!. If you require a specialty lens, like a toric for an astigmatic correction, they may need to be ordered and even then, many places have a decent supply of those on hand as well!.

In our office it also depends on whether there is time available for one of the opticians to sit down with you and show you how to put them in, take them out, and how to clean and care for them!. We allow an hour for this!. Sometimes we have them scheduled so if there is already an appointment on the books for someone to come in just as a new wearer is coming out, then we'd have to schedule them for another time!. We don't do more than one instructional at a time because it does require that someone sit with you for that entire hour!.

Also, the doctor must be present during this instructional, just in case there are problems!. I've had people who ge the lenses in, but cannot get them out and we have the doctor take them out of the patient then!. So if you were the last patient before the doctor's lunch, we would not be able to do the instructional at that moment either!.

Also, if the doctor dilates your eyes, it would better to not have you try to put contacts in because being dilated impairs your near vision and it would make it difficut for you to see in the mirror!. People have done it, but its been my experience that its better to wait for another day!.

So, it does depend on several things and you really won't kow for sure until you've had your exam!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I just recently got my contacts!. You go and first they check your eyes too see if you can actually wear contacts!. Then you come back another day, and you try them on and learn how to put them in!. Then you get to make a schedule with your eye doctor on how many contacts you want to buy, and if you want colored ones or not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

probably not! it sucks i had an appointment thinking i would get them then i had to make another for a contact fitting/instructions etc!. but i got them then! (my place was busy so it was a couple weeks later) i also had to make one 2 weeks later after getting them so i can see how the contacts were, how the prescription was, and order then at that time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most eye places will give you a trial pair right there in the office, and then you can order a larger supplyWww@Answer-Health@Com

You should call them and ask them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
