An eye exam includes a lot of things!. There will be some reading of lines, and they will place a device in front of your face that will allow them to change lenses (just as if you were trying on dozens different glasses to see if they make you see better) and have you read both near and far!. They may put drops in your eyes for the retina exam (see below), but won't touch the eyeball!. You will also look at odd colored patterns to test for color blindness!.

A couple of other tests include using something like a telescope or microscope to look at your retina, and maybe photograph it!. It still doesn't touch your eyeball!. The only test that is uncomfortable is for Glaucoma!. It usually involves shooting a brief puff of air onto your eye!. It's scary, but it's not that bad, as it's over very quickly!. I believe there is a newer test that may not require the puff of air, so you may luck out, there!.

That's pretty much it!. the glaucoma and basic reading and color tests come first, usually done by a nurse, and the more detailed evaluation of your retina and testing with the lens machine are done by an ophthalmologist!. I believe an optometrist can do the vision testing, but doesn't do the retinal evaluation, but I could be wrong on this!. If I am, I'm sure someone will correct me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you go in and they blow a little air in your eyes with a machine and you read lines and then you go into another room and they have you read more lines and they put a big thing next to your face that looks like huge glasses and get your prescription by switching lenses until they find the clearest one!.No bad stuff!.Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

They don't touch your eyes!. LOL
you just read stuff and he looks though your eyes on these things that look like binoculars, and sometimes he/she does something with pictures, like where do you see so and so, so and so!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

All they do is make you read charts, look at pictures with 3-D glasses, and make pictures match up!. It's easy and simple!. It's nothing to be scared about

[Why did you get the impression that they'll touch your eyes!?]Www@Answer-Health@Com

no, i have glasses and at my appointments they doont touch my eyes at all!.its no big deal!Www@Answer-Health@Com
