Well, I just had lasik last Friday! It was the best decision I ever made!. People's vision who changes after lasik were probably not the best candidate for lasik!. My vision was stable for five years before lasik, and they want your vision stable for at least two!. This helps our vision stay stable for many, many years after lasik!. Anyway, I felt no pain at all during the surgery - I actually did not feel a thing!. It was about 5 minutes per eye, and I had absolutely no problems after the surgery!. I was about a -4!.25 in each eye!. After the surgery I came home and slept for 3 hours (you are supposed to sleep and keep your eyes shut as much as possible after surgery), and when I woke up, I could see as clear as a bell!. I had no redness or swelling in my eyes at all!. With proper eye drop usage - per instructions, my eyes never feel dry!. I know at least 5 people who had lasik 5-7 years ago, and their vision is still extremely well - and still no need for glasses or contacts!. I went to a very good eye doctor - who specializes in Lasik surgeries!. He wasn't cheap, but I was willing to spend more for good results - these are my eyes we are talking about!. Anyway, my doctor said that some people may not see totally perfect right after surgery!. It can take 3-6 months for your vision to stabilize and see extremely well!. So the most important things are to make sure you are a very good candidate, and that your doctor is a specialist!. They will give you a percentage of seeing 20/20 based on your vision and if you have an astigmatism!. I had a slight astigmatism in my left eye, but I can still see great!. My odds were 100% 20/30, 91% 20/25 and 86% 20/20!. This percentage is based on nearsightedness and people with astigmatism and it was based on people with -3!.0 through -6!.0!. My doctor said that it seems like I am already at 20/20 and if I'm at 20/25, I will probably be at 20/20 in a 1-3 months!. I also heard that lasik is best for people who are nearsighted, which is most common anyway!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Talk to your eye doctor!.
People who is suspect of having glaucoma or who has relatives with this disease SHOULD NEVER BE OPERATED!.
The most important way to know if a person is or not glaucomatous is through tonometry!. Tonometry readings are impaired with refractive surgery!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mine is just as good as the day I had the surgery over 5 years ago!. Most people are glad they got it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I strongly, strongly suggest against lasik!. I know many patients who are years post-lasik and still experiencing the horrible side effect of severe dry eye!. Yes, for most people the dry eye goes away!. But for those that it doesn't!.!.!. it's life shattering!. You spend the rest of your life in pain, having to spend endless sums of money trying to manage your condition, and feeling like nothing will ever provide enough relief!.!.!.

I will quote a patient who is prime example of this:
"I have extreme LASIK-induced dry eyes!. I wear air-tight goggles in my house, in my car and outside!. I avoid public places, and shy away from social gatherings!. The moving air of shopping malls and grocery stores intensifies my constantly burning eyes!. I am terribly sensitive to sunlight, even with tinted goggles!. Dry eye pain and burning wake me in the middle of every single night!. I can no longer read or watch TV for pleasure!.

It is impossible to put into words the sadness LASIK has brought to me and my family!. I implore anyone who might be considering LASIK or any elective surgery to research it carefully!. A twenty-minute LASIK procedure, intended to improve my vision, completely altered the direction of my life!. It has blinded some, ruined careers, is to blame for suicidal thoughts and actual cases of suicide!.

My future is uncertain!. I am terrified of the systemic and hormonal changes aging will bring!. A severely dry cornea is in danger of corneal erosions, conjunctival thinning, and could eventually reduce my vision!. I can only pray for a solution to this maddening condition!. In the meantime, I will work to challenge the
