Regarding getting contact lenses for the first time...?!

Question: Regarding getting contact lenses for the first time!.!.!.!?
I'm getting contacts for the first time on Monday!. I've had glasses in the past, but realize that with age *groan* my distance vision really has gone downhill!.

So Monday's the big day! Do you have any advice to offer!? Is there anything I should do beforehand to practice!? I hear it's kinda hard to get the lenses in for the first time!. In case you're wondering, I'm 31 years old!.

Thanks guys XDWww@Answer-Health@Com

Well, your eye doctor will walk you through everything you need to know!.
For me, it was really scary putting on and even more, taking out my contacts because I have this fear of touching my eyes!. It will probably be easier for you!. If not, don't worry!. You'll get used to it!. I did in only about 3ish days!.
Um!.!.!.!.!. after you take them out, put each in the case and fill it with enough solution to completely submerge the lens!.
DON'T sleep with them in, because your eyes go very dry when you sleep because you never blink!. So when you try to take them out, it will hurt your eye a lot because the lens is stuck veryyy closely onto your eye!. IF this does happen, drip some solution in your eyes first!.
Rinse lens every time you put them in, take them out, including putting them in a second time in the morning if the first time doesn't work well!.

**ALWAYS wash your hands with soap and warm water before touching your contacts, DON'T let any tap water or any kind of water touch your lens, if you do you MUST rinse them with solution first before putting them in your eye!. Not rinsing may lead to eye infections which are very painful and serious!.

When you first wear them, you will feel the lens in your eye!. This is totally normal!. Also it is normal for your eyes to water a bit when you put them in!. It happens to me all the time!.
Also if there is something in your eye, don't rub really hard or you might displace the lens!. Just rub gently!.
If that does happen, just get a mirror, take your finger and gently move it back inti place!. Or close your eye tightly for a few seconds and blink!.
Oh also, the contact will feel cold when you put it in!. This is normal!. Do everything slowly, make sure you don't drop it!. Use a mirror!. After you put it in, don't suddenly let go of your lids!. Keep them open, check for any air bubbles near the edge of the lens, if there are, just slide the lens around a bit!.
It's okay if they don't all go away!. It's not a big problem!.
Slowly let go of your lids, blink and look around!.
They should feel comfortable!.
Sometimes, some fuzzies from clothing and stuff get on it!.
This will make the lens feel uncomfortable!. Or the lens will be flipped!.
Just take it out and rinse it!.
ONE MORE THING, if you have astigmatism (like me) which means one eye sees better than the other, you will need a different prescription in each lens!. With this be careful not to mix your lenses up!. Your case will mark the left and right one!.

I am 15, so I don't know if theres anything you need to know regarding your age!. Ask your doctor!.

Good luck!!!!!!!

****Heh, I know I wrote a lot and this SOUNDS really confusing, but trust me, it gets super easy once you get the hang of it!. It just looks like a lot to know written down!.****
Sorry I wrote soo much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hello and congratulations! It is always great to try out new things!

I'm 16 and I too have started on them a few weeks ago!. They're great to use!

There is not much you can do to practice if you don't have the actual contacts!. When you feel you're ready, go see your optometrist who will train you to put them on and remove them!. Yes, it's normal to feel awkward at first and you may constantly blink when trying them on but this should stop in a week's time and everything should be smooth!.

This trialling period lasts around a week - during this time, you start off wearing them for 4 hours a day, then increasing by 2 hours everyday to get your eyes used to reduced oxygen levels reaching them!.

As long as you're prepared to maintain high standards of cleanliness and be patient, you will enjoy using them!

Remember not to sleep in them and I wish you all the best! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

The people trying to help me get mine in told me to put the lens straight into my eye!. What a crock! I turn my face and look at myself in the mirror so that a large white part of my eye is showing and place the contact in the white part of my eye!. Then I lift up my eyelid and place it over the top of my eye and squeeze out the air underneath the contact!. Then I move it over the top of my pupil!. I would practice touching your eye and opening it really wide and touching it (with clean hands of course)!. It's really easy once you get the hang of it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its not rocket science!.
I recommend you leave it on to your doctor, do not have any +/- expectations but I suggest you to be calm and follow what your doctor says!.
Learn the procedure of insertion and removal of lenses, cleaning and disinfection!.
Take care of your lenses and they will take care of your eyes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you may feel some pain when putting them on for the first time!. try to close your eyes for a little while feeling the burn!. put some eye drops if needed!. the pains well affect for about a month or so!. and after 2 years you will get used to it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It will be frustrating at first, but once you realize how great the world looks without glasses, it is way worth it!.
Just be patient with yourself!. You will get use to handling things around your eyes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Keep them clean always no matter what, just wash your hands before and after putting or taking it out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
