Is eating carrots good for your eyes?!

Question: Is eating carrots good for your eyes!?
u know what they say about carrots helping to improve eyesight or something, is it true!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
In a sense, yes, carrots can make you see better in the dark as well as in the daylight too!.

Carrots are a fantastic source of Vitamin A (one medium carrot provides ten times the very low RDA of 600mcg) which plays a vital role in eye health!. Indeed, it is this very vitamin that transmits what our eyes see to our brain!. Vitamin A deficiency can lead to a whole host of vision problems including glaucoma, night blindness and short sightedness!.

Other fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes and apricots are also good sources of Vitamin A but it is the carrot that packs the biggest punch!. So if you ever struggle to make your kids eat their veg tell them about the amazing visual powers the carrot will give them!. You may be exaggerating somewhat but you're safe in the knowledge that you're telling the truth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Vitamin A deficiency has symptoms of poor vision, especially poor night vision!. Carrots are a good source of vitamin A, so in that respect they are good for your ability to see!.

Having extra vitamin A will not help you see better!. The vitamin is used in the conversion of the light hitting the retina into an electrical signal for the brain!. This is perfectly efficicent as long as you are hydrated and do not have a vitamin deficiency!.

Because of the link between vitamin A and eyesight, this myth was used as propoganda during the second world war, to encourage british people to grow vegetables, and to demoralise the german fighter pilots who would think the british soldiers had an advantage in the dark!.

The main reason that people have poor eyesight is because their lense is mishapen, or the cornea on the front of the eye is warped!. Carrots will do nothing for this at all, and it is arguable that they will not improve your night vision unless you are deficient!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, it isn't true!. It is just a silly myth!.

Carrots contain vitamin A that can help improve night vision, IF your body is deficient in vitamin A to begin with!.!.!.and you have very poor night vision!. It in no way can improve your actual visual defect if you wear a prescription though!.

There are lots of ways your body gets all the vitamin A it needs without over dosing on carrots!.!.!.!.lol

There are no foods or vitamins that can reverse or cure a refractive error that causes you to wear glasses or contacts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it is true, carrots contain vitamins that can improve eyesight - but you need to be careful - to eat as many carrots as you would need to actually improve your eyesight, it would also cause a slight discolouration of your skin, making it appear slightly yellow!.!.!.

its more of a "eat carrots over the course of your life and it will go someway toward keeping your eyes in check" rather than eat a whole bunch a carrots to stop you getting glasses or whatever!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No this was a ploy by our government, during the 2nd world war as we had just gor radar which is why we were able to bomb at night etc and they didn't want the enemy to know we had got it so they said that our pilots ate lots of carrots!Www@Answer-Health@Com
