Contact cleaning solution 3%H2O2?!
Question: Contact cleaning solution 3%H2O2!?
I use a cleaning solution that has 3% hydrogen peroxide as the cleaning ingerdient!. I pay close to 10$ a bottle for this!. I have generic 3% H2O2 (not contact type) will this work as well if I use the same container as the expensive one!? I am a chemist and cannot determine why this would not work!. Based on the ingerdients the only difference is salt in the fancy contact 3% while water is in plain bottle stuff!. Any optometrists have any answers on why or why not to use store brand 3%!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ug! I know how you feel!. I use that same solution, and it's a killer!. At least I have day and night lenses, so I don't clean them on a daily basis!.
The only concern I would have about using normal hydrogen peroxide is that it may not completely oxidize like the solution does!. With the normal solution, once the peroxide is neutralized, you end up with a nice saline solution!. Regular peroxide may neutralize just as well, but it doesn't have the salt content, which means you're left with your contacts sitting in water!.
So, maybe if you plan on taking your lenses out of the solution right after it is done neutralizing after 6 hours, you'd be okay!. Having the solution turn to saline solution because of the salt is a nice bonus though!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
