Why do you feel you can't wear soft contacts!? I've seen people with higher perscriptions than yours come through the office in soft lenses!. They may have to be made-to-order but are certainly available!. Perhaps you should talk to you optometrist again, or switch doctors!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If there's an eye-health related reason you need them, ultimately, the only choice you have is to keep trying or consult your doctor to figure out additional options!. Consider lenses with a hard center but a soft skirt, which may have increased comfort!.

If it's a simple refractive error, try switching to soft contacts, which are countlessly more tolerable!.

It should calm down, but yes, some eyes will ultimately just never 'work' with any contacts!. Some will only work with one or two while having poor results with the first 10 tried!.!.!. eyes are sensitive and picky, like that!.

Who on earth told you that!? Of course you can wear soft contacts with a high prescription- some can even be fit up to +20!. One example of such lenses is 'o2optix custom' from CIBA vision!. If you want coloured soft contacts, there's also the entire durasoft line, which can be fit anywhere between -20 and +20!. There are options!Www@Answer-Health@Com

omg, I wore gas permable lenses many years ago!. Yes they are uncomfortable at first, but you need to build the time up gradually!. When I first started using them I wrore them for about 20 minutes and took them out, and then when I put them in the next day I would wear them for an extra 20 minutes and done this gradually until I could wear them all day!. I remember going shopping and my eye was itching real bad, I rubbed it at the corner, & the lense moved & got stuck underneath, so I know your pain!, I was in tears!.

I know wear daily disposables, I have an astigmatism & +5!.00 prescription!.

Have you spoke to your optician!? coz they told me that the prescription for contacts can go upto +20!.00!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I feel your pain! I used to wear gas permeable lenses too because my prescription was high (6!.25+) and because of stigmatism!.
The reason they hurt so much is because: You have to develop a "scab/scar" on the underside of your lid!. (Eeeww - but true)
I had to gradually increase my wear time until I could wear them all day!.
Basically you start out wearing them for about 15 minutes, take them out, wear your glasses for a few hours and then try again adding 5 minutes!. Keep your glasses with you and be prepared to tell people that you aren't "high" - my eyes were so red that people thought I was on a party binge and I don't party like that - It was kinda funny - I looked awful!
If you don't give up, you will eventually be able to wear them and not even feel them!.
Make sure you clean these contacts really good by doing the enzymatic cleaning once a week!. If protein deposits build up on these lenses your vision will be blurry and your eyes will feel dry and scratchy!. The lense could also fall out!. These can be broken too - if that happens NEVER put it in your eye!
This is how I learned to put in my contacts:
Hold lense on your finger with one hand (make sure contact is moist) with other hand use your index finger and middle finger to keep eye open!. Look straight at your finger while you are putting the lense in!.
The hardest part was taking it out!. They tried teaching me the "blink" technique - it didn't work for me!. I had to keep my eye open, grab the contact and then move my eyeball either up or down to break the seal!. Eventually you will get it!.
I really do feel your pain - it hurts really bad!. Someone would always have to tell me where the contact was because it would get stuck under my eye lid!.
I hated my glasses, that's why I chose contacts - the gas permeable were my only choice because my prescription was so high - supposedly these allowed more oxygen to get to my eyes!.
I have since switched to disposable daily soft contacts - they don't hurt at all and are really easy to clean!. I can wear them for two weeks (clean them daily) and then get a new pair!.
The only bad thing is most soft contacts will only go up to 6+!. I have to wear "cheater readers" sometimes, but only if the print is really small!.
Good luck with your contacts!
Talk to your doctor if it becomes unbearable!
Peace =^!.!.^=Www@Answer-Health@Com
