Eye prescription?!

Question: Eye prescription!?
I recently went to the eye doctor!. I think my vision is pretty good but probably missed a word or two!. I confused a small "c" with a small "o"!.!.!. like I'm really going to read things that tiny!. My eye doctor said that my vision is good but now need glasses!. I disagree!

Here's my specs:

Distance Correction
Right:
-025 sphere, -025 cylinder, 165 axis

Left:
-025 sphere, -050 cylinder, 014 axis

Do I really need glasses or is this doctor trying to make me depended on glasses so I can continue going to him!?

Thanks!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

With that prescription, it's basically to fine-tune your vision (which is evidently pretty decent)!. I can't see that he'd be wanting to make you dependant on glasses, especially regarding the cylindrical prescription!. Maybe have the glasses and only wear them if/when you feel you might need to, but give them a try, and this is my reasoning:

I never realised there was anything up with my vision until a friend pointed out a sign the other end of our classroom and I had no idea what it said!. With glasses things were so much clearer than I'd imagined they could be!. Now when my eyes change, I don't really notice until I get a new pair, and suddenly I can see the outline of branches on trees, I can read road signs from further off, etc!.

So give them a go; you might find you never wish to wear them after a while, but on the other hand you might realise you see things more clearly and enjoy it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That is a pretty small prescription!. Did the doctor demonstrate the difference it would make!? Doctors should place some trial lenses on you to demonstrate the prescription!. If you can go back and ask your doctor to do this, I would suggest it!.

Usually with a prescription this small, docotors would only prescribe if the patient really saw a difference!. Really it is up to you!. If you feel like your vision is good enough for school or work or whatever you do, I don't see a problem holding off on the glasses!. I would suggest getting regular checkups, though, in case your eyes get worse, and it's always good to get your eye health checked!.

(This is from my experience as an optometry student!. Hopefully an experienced optometrist will give you a good answer on here, too!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com
