A prescription of -0!.50 is very small and barely noticeable!. Anything from -0!.25 to about -3!.00 is slight myopia (nearsightedness)!. I'd be surprised if the doctor actually gave her glasses right now!. Unfortunately, myopia usually progresses as children get older and stabilizes in the late teens or early twenties!. There is nothing you can do about this!. Wearing glasses or not wearing glasses will not make this progression better or worse!. Glasses will help her see more clearly if and when she needs them, which is the most important thing for her!. So make sure she gets regular eye exams (once a year, unless your doctor tells you otherwise) so that if her vision does get worse, she can get some glasses when she needs them!. Remember, myopia is common and not a disease or bad for the eye!.

I'm not sure about the requirements for being a fighter pilot other than that they must not have a color deficiency!. But she's 6, so her interests and ambitions may change!. :) Basically, you have nothing to worry about!. Always feel free to talk to your doctor, as well!. He or she should be willing to address any concerns you have!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Her eyes will get worse, unfortunately!. Myopia (short-sightedness) is not a disorder as such; just a condition!. (Though I suppose semantics are a bit irrelevant)!. If she does a lot of things requiring her to be able to see long distances (I can't think of anything off the top of my head) then she probably should wear glasses!. If not, then she probably doesn't need to, but if she's more comfortable with them then let her!. As long as she's happy!.

Regarding being a fighter pilot, I don't know, sorry!. But as has been said, as she's 6 her ambitions probably will change!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
