Kids NHS Glasses - How many pairs a year?!

Question: Kids NHS Glasses - How many pairs a year!?
My 5 year old has to wear glasses and got hid first pair about 4 months ago!. To be honest I have been to the opticians every week with them to get them straightened and tightened! They are really no good for a little kid as they cannot take the wear and tear!.
Can I get him a new pair from another optician as the place i got them has very limited choice and a larger firm seem to have much more hardwearing frames!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
When your child is tested an NHS voucher is issued by the optometrist who did the test!. The voucher is then put towards a pair of glasses!. Most opticians will carry a range of frames they will exchange for the voucher!.

When you receive the voucher you are entitled to take it and the prescription to any UK optometrist and this is supposed to give you choice and gives power to the consumer!.

You can only have as many vouchers as an optometrist is prepared to supply and that is usually when the presciption changes!.

As a 5 yr old in his first pair it is reasonable for the optometrist to recall your child after 6 months!. Call up and check if this is the case!.

Between tests, the practice can issue NHS repair vouchers for under 16s without seeking authority from the PCT!. It may be possible to claim a repair voucher to the same value as the original IF the whole appliance is beyond reasonable repair!. The repair voucher is redeemed at the practice it is issued!.

In summary, you get the spectacle voucher at the time of the test and the repair voucher when the glasses need repairing and if you want to upsticks and start again then just go to another practice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well if they can't make the glasses the proper size in the first place then its their job to fix them!
you should be able to get a clip thing that goes round the back of his head to keep the glasses on but itl probably be a waste of time because its annoying and he probably wouldnt wear it, my brother had one!.
you should be able to go to a larger firm but ul probably have to pay more money
