Questions about cataract surgery?!

Question: Questions about cataract surgery!?
I have to have a cataract removed from my left eye, it is diabetes related, not age!.
Anyway, one of my doctors mentioned to me that on the day of the surgery they may give me an injection after the surgery in the eye!?
What is that for!? She mentioned something about diabetic changes, is it to do with that!? I'm just curious until I see my doctor again, does anyone know what it's for!?
Thanks in advance!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
If you have diabetic retinal changes, you may be considered a candidate for Lucentis or Avastin to reduce the risk of a damaging reaction at the macula following the operation!.

(these are anti-wet-macular-degeneration drugs)

If you are under 45, another consideration is what type and focus of implant is going to be used, since the eye will lose its ability change focus for near due to the operation, however much good it does for your distance vision!.

This will all depend on the vision and condition in your other eye and your activities, but needs a little thought as to the best option!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
