Question: If an optic nerve is damaged, can it be healed!?
When I was five years old, my parents took me to the Jules Stein Eye Institute on the UCLA campus to see why I was having problems seeing in the classroom!. After seeing a doctor, they told my parents that I was blind in my right eye; my optic nerve was damaged!.
It's been about twelve years since then, and I'm curious!. Can an optic nerve be healed in any way so a person can see again!? I've haven't had a chance to ask any optometrists this question (I only see an eye doctor once a year to see how my vision in my left eye is doing, and to see if there is a change in my right) and I really want to know!.
-smiles- I don't know if I was ever able to see out of my right eye; I'd like a chance before I die to see with both of my eyes!.
-sigh- And luckily for me, I have great vision in my left (15/13, last I checked) so it doesn't look like I'll be going completely blind anytime soon!.

No I'm afraid optic nerve damage is permanent at this point!.
There may perhaps be some possibilities for some optic nerve conditions in the future with stem cell treatment, although if you were 5 or younger when it was noticed then there is no way sight could be restored, even with stem cells!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

that knida depends how much the damahe is severe!.!.!.but if ur blind then its severe,so no not that i know of it can be healed!.!.!.
although ive heard that some labs are experimenting on replacing the optic layer witha good one, but 2 do that it would cost lots of money when it comes out!.!.!.!.!.!.so ya

well i'm not a doctor
but i lost my right eye three years ago
when i was about 17 becouse of a problem with optic nerve
and when i asked the doctor and he gave me cortisone i guess for 6 or 7 mounths
and my eye is good now
but i remember he said that the optic nerve should be healed right away
my eye is not perfect but not as before
because i was late only 8 days
well the doctors in saudi are not so good may be that's why he said that
but i'm sure that your doctors are alot better so don't give up
