I'm getting contacts for the very first tiem and i have question about it obviously!. Do they hurt !? How often do you have to clean them!? What are the chances of getting an eye infection!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
They don't hurt at all!. When you put them in for the first time, for a few minutes you know they are there, but not painfully!. After about 10mins, you will forget you are wearing them- except your vision is clear of course!

It depends on what kind you get, but generally, whenever you take them out of your eye!. You can either clean them by gently rubbing (ONLY if you optom specifies it) but most people just take them out at night and store them in a special solution which automatically cleans them!.

Of course, there is a chance of getting an infection IF you don't clean and store them correctly!. As long as you clean them properly, use solution, DON'T buy them off the internet and just do everything your optometrist tells you, the chance of getting an infection is very, very slim so don't stress about that!.

Good luck, feel free to email thetakeover83@yahoo if you have anymore questions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't feel mine when they are in my eyes!.

You should clean them every day!.

You can get eye infections from not cleaning them or changing them out when the doctor recommends!.

Most people use disposable contacts that should be changed out bi weekly or monthly depending on which brand you are prescribed!.

Also, you may have a hard time getting them in and taking them out the first try!. Don't get frustrated!. It happens with a lot of people, including myself!. I've had 12 year old put them in with no problem and turn around and have a 20 something take 2 days to put them on (it was nearing closing time and they hadn't put one in so they had to come back the next day)!.

Also, your doctor will typically give you sample contacts the same day of your visit granted he or she has them in stock!. It is very important to go to your follow up to let the doctor know if the contacts and the prescription is working for you!.

I tell people to not sleep in their contacts if they are not made for that (i!.e!. Focus Night and Day are contacts that are designed to sleep in)!. I don't care who tells you that they do it all the time with no problem, please try to avoid that!.

I also tell people to fill their glasses prescription as well!. I always take my contacts off at night to let my eyes breath!. I can't see without aid so I put my glasses on at night!. I also go every other week where I will put on my glasses instead of my contacts!. The times when my allergies are acting up, I can forget about putting contacts in!.

Whenever you are handling your contacts, make sure you always wash your hands!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
