Eyes not ready for astigmatism correcting lenses?!

Question: Eyes not ready for astigmatism correcting lenses!?
My perscription has not yet stabilized (I've got -5!.50 on both eyes) and apperantly I'm developing some astigmatism now!. Both my parents have astigmatism, so I pretty much saw it coming (no pun intended :P)!. I've got the usual symptoms, like starbursts around lights and all, although I can still read well and I can still bring my eyes to focus to a certain degree!. During my recent appointment with my optometrist, I've been told that my eyes show some degree of astigmatism, but they're "not ready" to be corrected!. What does that mean!?
Thanks up front!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most astigmatism lenses start at -0!.75 power!. You probably have -0!.25 or -0!.50!. I am the same, so I was able to bump up the regular prescription just-0!.25 in the spherical power and it worked!. I am sure your doctor compensated for this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

How old are you!?
It might be that during your exam your doctor might have gotten different readings for the astigmatism and he needs to wait for it "settle" so he can precribe the best prescription he can!.
If you're young he just needs you to settle with your prescription so he can give you the most accurate one since your eye prescription changes as you grow older!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Im too a -5 with 0!.5 astigmatism in one eye and for that eye the doctor usually prescribes the lenses a little strong to "help with the astigmatism!. My -5 eye has -5!.25 contact lenses in it!.!. and I notice it helps a little!. Maybe your astigmatism is just no high enough for him to prescribe proper lensesWww@Answer-Health@Com
