Mucous!. The eye has 3 types of tears!. 1) Oily tears to move your eyes like greased ballbearings!. 2) Water- sad or happy or if something is in your eye or feels like it is your eye, the waterworks start!. 3) Mucous- usually when your eye is chronically irritated!. We always called them "sleepy men" I don't know why, it just what I have always heard!. I also have heard of the others above!. My daughter when she was little use to call them sleepy girls, just cause she liked that better!. Funny Huh!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
