Sounds like a build up of mucus in the tears, commonly caused by dryness or irritation!. It's hayfever season so that could be the cause but it could be dryness as I said!.
I would bin the eyebath, they don't really do anything, they just wash the eye, you need to treat the cause to make it go away!.
Try getting a clean flannel and dipping it into hot water (not too hot because you don't want to burn him), then place the hot flannel over the closed eyelids!. Leave it there for a few minutes then gently press the eyelids!. If it works it will make your vision appear all greasy!. What is happening is the oil glands in along the eyelids will have released into the tears making the vision greasy!. Cleaning the oil glands should help it flow properly into the eye and stop the eye getting dry, if it's not dry then you shouldn't get the mucus build-up!. Do this every morning and evening for about a week, should help!
If no improvement try an antihistamine eye drop because it could be hayfever related!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If any of the above are true that, is probably what it is!. He should be seen by an ophthalmologist to double check!. A cataract is just the aging process of the natural lens, typically the lens can be removed with little or no complication as an out patient procedure!. Cataracts typically occur in people around the ages of 45-75 and sometimes even younger, wedid surgery on a 35 year old not long ago!. I hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
