20/200 vision?!

Question: 20/200 vision!?
My last doc appointment the eye doc told me I had 20/200 in my left eye!. He said to protect my right eye or my life would change badly!. To be honest if I close my right eye I can't see nothing but a blur or a haze!. But my right eye is great!. What is the limit for being legaly blind!? Or to obtain benefits!? With both I see alright!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
With 20/200 vision in one eye you will not be considered legally blind because you have good vision in your right eye!. If you didnt have good vision in the right eye, you would need at least a 20/200 in it as well to be considered legally blind!. You will not qualify for state benefits with your current visual acuities!. This is why your doctor warned you about protecting your right eye!. Be glad, state benefits do not amount to much!. That is really no way to live!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're not legally blind!. To be legally blind you have to be 20/200 or less with best correction!. That means if wearing your most up to date glasses or contacts you can only get 20/200 or worse vision you have to get a note from your doctor saying you're legally blind!.
For driving and such, as long as you have at least one eye that has 20/40 vision or better, you're okay!.

The reason the doctor told you to protect your right eye has nothing to do with benefits!. The doctor is thinking of a time when the right eye might becomd injured or suffer a disease and you would be left with 20/200!. The doctor might just as well said to protect both eyes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
