Contacts vs Glasses?!

Question: Contacts vs Glasses!?
I have both glasses and contacts!. I was wondering if it is normal that glasses prescriptions are stronger than contacts!. My contact in the right eye is slightly blurred, but glasses makes it completely clear!. By the way, I have a stigmatism if that makes any difference!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Eyeglass and contact lens Rx's are written differently!. The contacts sit directly on your eye and have a tear layer to also take in to consideration, especially if there is a hard lens!. Your glasses sit further away than that and because they are about 10-12 mm away from your eye, their numbers are slightly different than the contacts to accomodate for what we call vertex distance!. Also, if you are being corrected for astigmatism in your glasses with a cylinder prescription, you iwll always have a way different Rx between the two as well!. If you are not wearing a toric contact lens (Toric lenses have a cylinder component that corrects for astigmatism!.) it might be that the amount of cylinder you have is not big enough of a deal to put into your contacts!. I am like this too!. I have some astigmatism in my left eye that is corrected in my glasses, but too small to correct with a toric contact, so it is not in my contacts, and therfore I see a little bit blurrier in my left eye if I just close that eye!. It is true that in this case you , like me , sould see slightly better out of the glasses!. Sometimes it is not worth the money and trouble of a toric contact lense if you can see 20/20 with both eyes open with your contacts!. I see 20/20 with my right eye and 20/25 with my left on it's own, but together I see 20/20!. Does this make sense!? I hope I helped and did not make you more confused!Www@Answer-Health@Com
