Question: Is LASIK and other laser corrective surgery really safe!? And how long could it really last!?
My doc said about 8 years!.Did he say this to discourage me!? And which laser is better!? Does cheap mean safe!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've read good but mostly bad stories!. To me my sight is too precious to take the chance!. I can deal with the reading glasses and if eventually I need them for more than just reading so be it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I had LASIK 6 years ago for my -5!.50 myopia -- it has worked VERY nicely for me! I had worn glasses since third grade!. I do have larger pupils, however, and the LASIK has created some glare and halo for me, especially at nights, and increased my dry eye condition!.
I also know to expect reading glasses when I hit about 40 or so !. !. !.
but I would do it again!
However, plenty of people don't like their results -- you can easily find those stories on the internet!. Sometimes, there really was a complication, and sometimes it's the patient's expectation!.
At the office I work at, we've had patients in who see 20/40 and think they see great! and patients who see 20/20 who complain that their vision is blurred and they want re-treatment!.
CUSTOM LASIK is the newest technology --- but who knows!? Maybe 15 years from now, we won't believe that we ever did this procedure, thinking it was good technology !. !. !.much like we think of RK (radial keratometry) or LTK (laser thermal keratoplasty) !. !. !. can you believe that people had little spoke-like cuts made all around their cornea!? For just temporary results!?
