It's a very minor surgery done under local anaesthetic and it's to the eyelid, not the eye!. I'm afraid there is no way you will be put under a general anaesthetic for a chalazion, it's way too risky, but if you are really freaked out you could perhaps be sedated!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow, most Chalazion's are treated non-surgically!.!. which means yours is a fairly good one!. =-)

To be honest, most (if not all) optometrists will not have the qualifications or cerifications or medicall training to put someone under!. Mopst chalazion sirguries are done in office and with a local anestheic!.

If you NEED to go under the OD may refer you to an opthalmologist!. An opthalmologist is an eye doctor who has gone to an a medical school in addition to optometry school and they tend to do surguries routinely!.

Bottom line, tyalk to your eye doc about your fears!. If s/he doesn't listen and brushes you off then it's time to get a 2nd opinion!.

Only a doctor can help you explore all of your options!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go see an Ophthalmologist!. They are real doctors and surgeons who can do the surgery for you!. This is a minor procedure done with a local anesthetic!. The most pain that you will feel is the stick of the needle and a little pressure from the anesthesia!. This surgery is quick and you will be rid or your chalazion!.!.!.though you may have a little scar tissue there due to the chronic nature of it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
