Optician recomends surgery?!
Question: Optician recomends surgery!?
My optician said he can make me glasses (only just) but recomends surgery to correct a squint in the left eye!.
I have worn glasses since the age of 3, i'm now 35!.
What is the sucsess rate of this kind of surgery, I really don't want to have it, what are my options
(Sph) right eye -10!.75 left eye -10!.75
(Cyl) right eye -2!.00 left eye -1!.75
(Axis) right eye 15 left eye 165
Prism right eye 18 left eye 18

If you consult a skilled ophthalmologist your success rate will be good!. Corrective surgery techniques have come along way, but not everybody is an ideal candidate , so you need to check to see who has a lot of experience in the field!. Your existing eye doctor may be able to give you a good referral for a consultation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Success rate depends on what you mean by success -- cosmetic improvement or functional improvement!. It also depends on a number of personal factors!. Only a surgeon who has personally examined your eyes can provide you with success odds!.

Your optician has been through years of training - you should be asking him about alternatives and success rates!. Most of the folks on this forum know diddly squat about anything except the latest episode of Big Brother! Go back to him/her for their expertise - this is not the right place!. I would suggest that you make an appointments with Ophthalmologist (eye doctors that can perform surgery)!.
Make appointments with at least 3 of them for screening and consultation!. Get their opinions and make your own decisions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
