Eye hurts 2yrs after injury should've healed?!

Question: Eye hurts 2yrs after injury should've healed!?
Roughly two years ago, I was horsing around with my bf at the time, and jokingly fighting for something that I had in my hand!. His hand flew up and I got his finger in my eye, and he hadn't cut his nails recently!. I was crying alot, and couldn't open my eyes for the whole walk home, and it wasnt until the middle of the night (few hrs later) that the pain was so much, we went to the hospital!. It turned out that he had scratched my eye, there was a moderately deep cut through the center of my eyeball, for which the doctor gave me some pain meds (nothing too strong) and froze it for a time, so that I could open it and he could give it a look!. He told me not to use it for a day or so, and too keep it covered!. Which I did!.

Here's my question:

Since then, if I accidentally poke myself in the eye, or get hit in that area (my toddler fell back on me while playing on the bed, and hit the back of his head on my brow/eye region) it hurts more than it ought to, or ever did before!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Once an eye is scratched, that area can become weaker and more prone to re-injury!. Do you ever wake up in the morning with eye pain or irritation that gets better throughout the day!? If so, you should consider keeping some ointment in the eye while you are sleeping!. When the eye dries out, the area that was injured can open back up again because it's weak!. A good one over the counter is Refresh PM!. It's goopy and you'll have to wash it away in the morning, but it will help!. Of course, all of this is speculation given I've never seen your particular condition!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
