Hello,

You don't say if your new contact lenses are 'hard' ('rigid gas-permeable'), or 'soft,' (the floppy moist ones)!.

Anyway, the problems with being punched in the eye with a contact lens in, include the punched eye swelling up or bruising so badly, that you can't get the lens *out* again!.

'Hard' lenses are relatively easily pushed off the front of the eye, to under the upper or lower eyelid, - - or knocked out of the eye altogether!. It can be difficult to decide whether the lens is 'hiding' under your upper eyelid, or has gone altogether!. These are more likely, than that the hard lens will be pushed backwards into the eye by a blow!.

'Soft' lenses can be used for playing 'contact sports' like rugby or football, where there is a recognized risk of getting punched in the face!. This is because they are difficult to knock out (or knock sideways), and because they are too soft to help in damaging the eye!. But there is still the possibility of their getting trapped under the eyelids, if you get a large 'black eye!.'

If there is a possibility of your getting knocked unconscious, ('K!.O'd'), you should wear or carry something to tell the doctor in hospital that you have contact lenses in!. If you are unconscious, contact lenses of both types need removing!.

There have certainly been cases where a contact lens, has protected the front of the eye from some some small object flying into it But usually an object smaller than a fist!.

I hope this is of some help!.

I dunno about the contacts, but you really shouldn't get into fights at all!. It is never, ever, right!. It says so in the Bible!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
