OMG I have your best answer right here!. I had the SAME problem a few months ago!. The answer is Armour Etch!. Check out a couple of Blogs first!.

http://blog!.makezine!.com/archive/2007/02!.!.!.
http://www!.thriftyfun!.com/tf947057!.tip!.h!.!.!.

By the way, read the comments, as the topic evolved from the original post in the first one!.

Basically, figure out which side of the lens the coating is on!. Then apply a thick coating of Armour Etch to that side and leave it there for 5 minutes!. Then carefully wash it off under water!. Rub the lens with your fingers, and you'll feel the coating come off!.

You can buy Armour Etch at craft stores like Michaels or JoAnns!. A three oz bottle is about 8 dollars or so!. It's way more than you need!.

This technique works perfectly for me!. I now have eyeglasses I can see through, and didn't have to fork out big bucks for new lenses!. Please try this method, and please please post your resutls!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your lenses are plastic the UV coating is incorporated into the substrate of the material rather than a coating!. The coating that is probably coming off is either an anti-reflective coating or a scratch coating!. These can be removed, but sometimes the lenses do not come back great and therefore is really not recommended!. Some of the coating may still be there, it is a difficult process!. And not a great idea!. How long have you hd the lenses!? If you have an anti-reflective/anti-glare coating, there should be an upto 2 year warranty on the coatings!. The lab will re-do the lenses at not cost!. If itis over that time, you may not have any other options rather than buying new lenses!. Sorry!. I hope it works out for you :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

That would be the scratch resistant coating or the anti reflection coating coming off, not the UV coating!.

If there was no anti reflection coating on it, then it is the scratch coat doing that!.!.!.and sorry, nothing can be done to remove it!. The lenses have to be replaced!.

Check where you got them, many places give a 2 year warranty against that happening,

The UV isn't a coating, it is a liquid that is absorbed right through the lens and never peels!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go back to where you got them!. I abuse mine and it's still intact!. It's very hard to get off if it was done right!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
