I'm short sighted and have trouble reading with my contacts!

Question: I'm short sighted and have trouble reading with my contacts
I just got my contact lenses, I'm short sighted (I can't see far away)!. In my lenses I can see very well far away but reading books or texts close it goes kinda blurry or more like out of focus!. Did anyone else have this problem!? Do I just need to adjust to looking through lenses, will it go away or do I need different lenses!? I'm going to see my optometrist in a couple of weeks time (I'm on my trial period) and I will tell her about it but I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else!?

Thanks!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Other people do have this problem!.How is your reading vision without contacts!? How is your vision with your present glasses!? How is your vision with an older pair of glasses!?

If I am correct in my assumptions, you have begun wearing contacts and you are having trouble at near!. The problem may be convergence insufficiency!.

When you look through your glasses at a distance you look through the optical center of each lens!. As you converge for near, you are no longer looking through the optical centers!. You are looking through a different part of the lens!. Minus lenses, for myopic (shortsighted) patients induce prism as you look away from the optical centers!. In this instance base-in prism is induced!. This prismatic effect aids vision by helping you maintain fusion without effort!.

With contact lenses, however, when you converge the lenses move in with your eyes!. You are still looking through the optical centers of the contact lenses!. You lose the assistance given by glasses!.

You may find glasses better suited for reading than contact lenses!.
Most people do!.

Be prepared to tell her of your experience when you go back in!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I sometimes have this problem when I'm wearing my contact lenses but I'm over the age of 40 so it's normal!. I really only have it when I'm trying to read small print in dim lighting!. I've never been able to adjust to reading glasses so what I usually do is take off my contacts and put my regular glasses on!. I actually can read small print quite well with them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's happening to me right now also!. Although I did wear contact lenses before but it was months ago!. I'm currently using the trial pair version also!. It takes time to get used to!. I can read quite clearly right now!. For safety, just mention it to your optometrist next time, but I think its no big deal!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

The lenses might be too strong!. I had a similar issue this year when the Dr gave me trial lenses!. Ended up backing the prescription down by quite a bit before I had near and far vision!. Also, if you have an astigmatism, this sort of thing can happen!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you're over 40 I'd say you might need reading glasses, the kind you can buy at the drugstore!.

I have the same problem and I keep little-old-lady glasses around for reading!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
