Question: Terrible eyesight! only 13 yrs old
i have terrible eyesight!!! its like -8 i think!.!.!.IM ONLY 13!!! is there anything i can do to prevent from going blind!?!?!? please help me! im too young for lasik eye surgery!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

u just needa keep at ur contacts and stuff for a few more years, than u can have laser and u'll be better!.
i doubt u'll go blind!.
but also, talk to ur optometrist and get a check-up and full story!.
i became short sighted when i started puberty aswell btw, so its probably those factors that make it worse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your relatively severe shortsightedness doesn't mean that you're going blind!. It means that your eyes are growing too fast, and you can't really do much to prevent this excessive growth!. I'm sure there are others with the same problem in your close relatives, as it has a genetic source usually!. You can maintain good vision by using spectacles or contacts (and surgery probably after you're 18)!. you should be aware that direct trauma to the eyes or very hard physical activities are not suitable for your eye condition!. You should also avoid dehydration, which means you should always drink enough water!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Don't worry yourself so, you won't go blind!. Your poor vision may or may not continue to increase!. Only your eye doctor can tell you all you need to know!. Research how to keep your eyes healthy and do all you can that way so you won't be adding to your issues!. Do your parents have poor vision!? It's usually hereditary!. Just don't worry!. I know exactly how you feel!. I'm fifteen and my prescription has been +7 since I was like 10!. You're not going to just go blind though!. There has to be something that will make you go blind, and if you were going to go blind your vision would drastically change very quickly!. As for Lasik, it works really well!. My grandmother had it and she had a very high perscription and it fixed her eyes almost completely!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
