Why can't we look at a solar eclipse?!
Question: Why can't we look at a solar eclipse!?
In what way is it more harmful than looking at the sun on a regular day!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
Ok!. Did you ever do this as a child!? Did you ever get a magnifying glass and hold it over a sheet of paper to focus the light of the sun into a small point!? Soon, the heat generated from the focused sun would burn a hole in the paper!. The optics of the eye work very much like that magnifying glass!. This would happen with a solar eclipse!.
Normally sunlight is so brilliant a person can not stand to look directly at it for any significant amount of time!. Because the great majority of the sun will be covered, though, there will not be enough brilliance to cause you discomfort by looking at the small amount of sunlight that peaks out just before, during, and just after the eclipse!. Because you will not feel uncomfortable, you may look at the sun long enough for that small portion of sunlight peaking out to focus in a small point directly on the retina resulting in a severe burning of the retina!. So, just don't try it!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is more harmful because the reduction in brilliance would tempt you to look long enough to damage your retinas!.
