Can I get contacts without having glasses?!

Question: Can I get contacts without having glasses!?
So I had an eye exam about a year and a half ago, but I never got around to getting glasses!. I am starting school again, and I know that I have problems seeing the board, so I better go ahead and get correction!. Anyway, is it possible to have contacts and not a pair of glasses!? Or do you have to have a back up pair!? Also, can you get contacts without having glasses first!? Because if it is possible, I would like to!.

Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes, you can, but it is a really good idea to have back-up glasses!.

We are not strictly allowed to say "Well, it's your own fault"
when we are faced with people who have over-worn their lenses because that had no other option, or who have picked up an eye infection and need to avoid contacts for a week or so, or have damaged or lost a lens and need to drive home!.!.!.
and a variety of other scenarios!.

We just have to try and sort out the mess!.
But we are allowed to *think* "Why don't people have the brains to keep a spare pair of glasses!?"

Sure-why not!? I only have contacts, and no glasses!. My recommendation would be to have another eye exam (your eyesight might have changed again), but more importantly, doctor's offices will usually give you a free pair of contacts, so you can see if you can actually wear them!. Not everyone can deal with putting something on their eyes!. This will give you a little time to see if you can wear them, and actually like them!. If you are like me, when i started wearing contacts in high school, it took me a good 2 weeks to feel very comfortable wearing the contacts!.
Having a backup pair of glasses might be smart--but not necnessary!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There's nothing to say that you can have contacts, but no glasses (I wear contacts and haven't owned a pair of glasses in 10 years)!. The Eye doctor will or course, try to convince you to get a backup pair, but it's not completely neccessary!. Contact and eye glass prescriptions are competely different as well!. So basically, you'll need two different eye exams to get both!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The best thing to do, would be to book another eye exam, and talk to the optician about your options!. Whether he gave you glasses or not, he couldnt make you wear them, so if you had contact lenses as well then you could just wear those! but to be honest, glasses aren't as bad as you might think, and in my experience contact lenses aren't as good as you might hope, i find them uncomfy if i wear them for extended periods!.

your optician will be the best person to help though!

It's definitely smart to have a pair of glasses even if you primarily wear contacts!. There will be days when you don't want to -- or can't -- wear contact lenses, and if you need a prescription to function normally, you'll be glad you have a backup pair of glasses!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some people like to wear contacts and glasses at the same time!. Most people have a backup pair just in case if they lose one of their glasses!. If you want, you can just get contacts without getting glasses!. I know people who sometimes wear contacts and sometimes wear glasses!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you can get contacts first but get a check up!. your eye doctor will give you a prescription if your eyes are close to the same check the dollar store for reading glasses they work for me!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. Corrective lenses and frames cost extra anyway!. Just tell your optometrist that you are just getting tested for contacts and not glasses!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'd choose contacts !.!.!. they are more practical and look nice!. Give me confidence and that extra style in my image!. Hazel and honey color are nice!. I got my contacts from Softlenseye!.com!. Pretty smooth and easyWww@Answer-Health@Com
