How do doctors fix lazy eye?!

Question: How do doctors fix lazy eye!?
Answers:
It actually depends on the type of lazy eye!.!.!.
Ie!. does it turn in or out, does it happen all the time, and the refractive correction of the eye!.

The treatment can vary from nothing, to glasses or contacts, to vision therapy, to surgery!.

Its best to go and see an optometrist who can help you out, and let you know the best treatment for YOU!

If you are asking for yourself you are already too late for some of the procedures!. The patch will do nothing for you!. The doctor will surgically tie the muscles in the back of the eye to stop it from wandering!. If it is for a child this following procedure needs should be done before 3 years old!. The child needs to wear a patch on the good eye to stregthen the lazy eye!. A lazy eye is an immature eye that doesn't focus as it should (the brain hasn't told the eye to focus) the eye needs to mature and learn to focus and the patch covers the good eye so the lazy eye has too work!. To the child it is somewhat frustrating since covering the good eye leaves their vision very blurry!. Take it from me if they aren't forced to wear the patch the eye will never learn and this procedure is useless after the child turns 5!.
There is research with brain stems and stroke victims that may eventually be able to treat adults with lazy eyes since the brain is what is causing the vision problem not the eye!. I hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well, usually a lazy eye is caused by the muscles on one side of the eye not being as stong as the other!. usually doctors prepare a combination of excercizes to help strengthen the muscles resulting in the eye returning to normal!. but it happens over alot of time and take patients and dedication!.

usually excersizes are just traning the eye, things like moving a finger back and forth in front of the face and getting the child or adult to try and follow ones finger!. there are many ways and all you need to do is make an appointment at a local health clinic with a family doctor and he/she will advise a treatment :) best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Also known as Amblyopia, is the eye condition noted by reduced vision not correctable by glasses or contact lenses and is not due to any eye disease!. The brain, for some reason, does not fully acknowledge the images seen by the amblyopic eye!.Anything that interferes with clear vision in either eye during the critical period (birth to 6 years of age) can cause amblyopia!. The most common causes of amblyopia are constant strabismus (constant turn of one eye), anisometropia (different vision/prescriptions in each eye), and/or blockage of an eye due to cataract, trauma, lid droop, etc!.
Treatment involves glasses, drops, vision therapy and/or patching!.Treatment of amblyopia after the age of 17 is not dependent upon age but requires more effort including vision therapy!. Although improvements are possible at any age with proper treatment, early detection and treatment still offer the best outcome!. Lasik treatment will not cure this "lazy eye"Www@Answer-Health@Com

do you have esotropia or exotropia!?
to improve the vision we patch the good eye to make the bad eye work harder and we sometimes dilate the good eye for the same reason!. sometimes corrective lenses work!. if the eye is misaligned then surgery can be done to straighten the eye but this does not correct the vision, straightening the eye is for cosmetic reasons!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had lazy eye when I was a child (I'm now over 40!.) My ophthalmologist used a prism in my eyeglass lens to force my eye back IN when it strayed OUT!. The doctor I'd seen before him was really keen on surgery, but I was only 8 years old and afraid of surgery; my parents were worried about complications!.

The prism worked over a couple of years!. I haven't had a prism in my eyeglasses or contact lenses ever since I can remember!.
