Astigmatism after corneal transplant?!

Question: Astigmatism after corneal transplant!?
I was thinking about it a little, and I was wondering:
suppose you'd have to preform a corneal transplant on a child (someone who's vision has not yet stabilized) for whatever reason, say, an injury, could he still get astigmatism if he had the genetic tendency for it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Quite probably, as the graft would join to the edge of the existing cornea, and over 20-30yrs may induce some astigmatism!. However after corneal transplants, there is usually a lot of astigmatism induced due the stitches holing the cornea on being slightly different tightnesses!.

Id also imagine it would depend on why the cornea was transplanted, as some conditions can effect the graft as well!.

Thats my best guess at an answer, im sure there are papers out there to give you a more informed answer though!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
