Answers:
You probably would find glasses useful, at least some of the time!.

You certainly should have a routine examination!.

But it's not a done deal: there are people with 20/40 who don't need glasses, because they wouldn't help: refractive error is not the only reason for blurred vision!.
And, occasionally, people who can be returned to 20/20 distance vision from 20/40 without glasses!. I've done that and more, in cases of ciliary spasm!.

Which is why it needs a professional assessment!.

You definitely need glasses!. Two of my nephews had the same problem and could not see the things written on the white board clearly till the went very close to the board!. They both went for a check-up and now wear glasses and one of them looks cool in those glasses!.

Information from Wikipedia:
In the term "20/20 vision" the numerator refers to the distance in feet from which a person can reliably distinguish a pair of objects!. The denominator is the distance from which a person with standard VA would be able to distinguish them--the distance at which their separation angle is 1 arc minute!. The metric equivalent is 6/6 vision where the distance is 6 meters!. Twenty feet is essentially infinity from an optical perspective (the difference in optical power required to focus at 20 feet versus infinity is only 0!.164 diopters)!. For that reason, 20/20 vision can be considered nominal performance for human distance vision; 20/40 vision can be considered half that acuity for distance vision and 20/10 vision would be twice normal acuity!. The 20/x number does not directly relate to the eyeglass prescription required to correct vision; rather an eye exam seeks to find the prescription that will provide 20/20 vision!.

Yes, you do need glasses, but only use them when good distance vision is required like looking at the blackboard!. Don't use them for near work as this causes eyestrain and make your vision worse!.
Also you can improve your vision if you do eyes exercises (eg Bates method) and by taking regular breaks every 20-30 minutes when you are reading or on the computer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
